LONGVIEW, TX - Meat eaters, avert your eyes. Just go on to the next story, because this one hurts.
Police said a man who stole steaks from an East Texas Walmart led them on a cross-county, high-speed chase as he fled with the purloined meat, Fox 7 Newsreports.
The pursuit reached speeds of 130 mph starting in Gregg County in Longview - some 122 mileseast of Dallas - before crossing through its westernmost regions in Harrison County.
Here's the painful part (again, avert your eyes, meat lovers): The suspect - apparently in a bid to rid himself of evidence - started to hurl the steaks out the window while the cops were hot in pursuit. Patrol Sgt. Marc Nichols later said one of the steaks bounced off his patrol car in the frenzy of the chase.
The meat miscreant was finally captured in neighboring Upshur County.
