A great-grandmother shot and killed a home invader after he stabbed her husband and left him bleeding on their kitchen floor, police said. And a week and a half later, she has finally started to talk about it, delivering her harrowing account to a local TV station.
The 80-year-old woman was at her Sultan, Washington, home on April 27 when she found her husband beaten and stabbed inside their kitchen, Snohomish County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Shari Ireton told Patch. She went to her bedroom to get her gun, Ireton said, and found a stranger in her home.
She fired four shots, three hit him and he died, Ireton said.
"I felt like if I had not[shot him], My son and I might both be dead and my husband might have bled to death on the kitchen floor," the woman, identified as 80-year-old Barb Molesby KOMO News, told the station. "You know, never in my whole life did I ever anticipate having to take another life - especially at age 80."
